THE MINISTRY OF FLUXUS
Bringing the Fluxus Spirit to Life
The first Ministry of Fluxus opened in 2010 in Vilnius in an abandoned medical building and a few years later moved to a former shoe factory in Kaunas. Arturas Zuokas, the former Mayor of Vilnius and a big fan of Fluxus, created the Ministry of Fluxus as a way to turn abandoned buildings into publicly accessible performance and exhibition spaces where young people could actively participate in creative activities.

Ministry of Fluxus in Kaunas (2013)
The Ministry of Fluxus no longer occupies the old footwear factory, but this painting of Jurgis Maciunas -- "The Master (Wise Old Man)" -- on the side of the building remains a major attraction in Kaunas.
